Then wakned I in that erber wlonk
then i awoke in that lovely garden
erber grene bespoke design and sentiments
i create mixed media art inspired by poetry and plants.
i study poems, and i write them. some original poems appear in my designs.
poetry is phonaesthetic as well as symbolic and metaphorical, and my work derives of intensive study in poetics, a deep and abiding love of my garden, and moment-by-moment
decision making through which i learn to trust myself.
“erber grene” comes from the 14th century middle English poem, Pearl ;
the phrase, which means “green garden,” bespeaks the source of all natural materials in my work.
each one-of-a-kind piece reflects the growth of ideas, of plants, and of the artist.
sustainable, personal craft
all plant materials used in erber green designs and sentiments are planted, nurtured, and harvested in my personal garden. i grow an abundant variety of flowers and greens in a biodiverse, organic, and sustainable plot behind my home. each artifact you see is chosen with
care and intention.
slow, attentive, intentional
each design is a gift of time and presence. no project is rushed or mass produced. all erber green designs are the result of months and weeks, not minutes and seconds. from the time it takes to plant, grow, and harvest my garden, to press and dry plant materials, to designing, painting, and setting, each project is crafted in slow time.
